eBay sellers are playing a game of "whodunit" today over a new submission to the Australia Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) regarding eBay's PayPal-only policy slated to go into effect next month. The ACCC withheld the name of the entity filing the detailed 38-page submission, leading to speculation over possible suspects.
Who might complain against eBay's policy? We've already seen sellers, banks, competitors and other organizations such as the EFF file submissions - and their names were not withheld.

WALTON COUNTY — Ever consider quitting your job and working from home? Well, a local couple has done just that and it has paid off for them.
Instead of working a 9 to 5 job, Daniel Porter and wife April, stay at home with their three young daughters and work from their computer selling on eBay, specializing in golf clubs.
"eBay selling allows much more time with my family; it's the reason why we like it so much," said Daniel. "It's not hard to do either; you just need someone who knows how to work a computer."

GREENSBORO — A revenge plot on Craigslist was a work of fantasy — but it was realistic enough to prompt a police investigation.
A message posted Wednesday night on Greensboro's Craigslist — written like a news story about a shooting Thursday — described a man going to an unnamed trucking terminal near Piedmont Triad International Airport and killing 12 of his co-workers, then himself. Craigslist is a self-moderated Web page offering free classified ads and forums.
A local woman reading the "rants and raves" forum saw the message go up about 10 p.m. and notified authorities. About 3:30 a.m. police found the man who wrote the post and determined that he would not act out what the message described, said Sgt. G.M. Richey of the Greensboro Police Department's criminal intelligence squad.

Amazon is obviously not worth 60-times earnings.
Wall Street analysts decide what they want their DCF models to say Amazon's stock is worth and tweak their assumptions accordingly, not the other way around. (It's the same for all stocks, by the way. That's why, why Google goes to $700, analysts have $800 targets, and when it goes to $500, they have $600 targets, and so on).
If the company's future isn't as bright as Wall Street assumes, the stock will tank.
And so on...

eBay has a master plan, and they are executing it in small steps. The final goal of this plan is still a mystery, but the more changes they roll out, the more I feel like my small business isn't welcome there anymore.
Yesterday they announced that starting in July you can no longer have links to outside websites on your About Me page, which was the only place on eBay where you could link to your own website or blog legally. I can't even include outside links in the eBay store newsletter I send out every week, so I have to type cumbersome instructions to people when I talk about things - "Just click over to my About Me page to get the link to my website to visit my blog/Etsy shop" - bleh!

The city of Chicago is suing eBay and its subsidiary StubHub for failing to collect city amusement taxes on concert and sporting event tickets sold through the Web sites.
Chicago's amusement tax ordinance includes Internet sites that resell tickets, but eBay, which bought StubHub last year, says the 8 percent tax does not apply to it.
It's not clear how much money is at stake, but when the city first floated the idea of going after taxes for online sales in 2006, Alderman Edward Burke estimated the city could be losing $16 million a year on Internet-based sales by ticket resellers who don't collect the tax.
The city filed two complaints Monday, one against each company, asking eBay and StubHub to hand over records of sales in Illinois. eBay is losing ground quickly in our eyes.

The warm 'n' fuzzies are gone between craigslist and eBay. That is, assuming they were ever there to begin with. Craigslist is suing eBay, alleging that eBay used its minority shareholder status to glean proprietary information about craigslist that was used against it for the benefit of eBay's Kijiji.com classifieds site (referred to as a "craigslist killer" inside eBay, according to craigslist), unfair and unlawful competition, false advertising, and trademark infringement, among other things.
The text of the complaint unveils the juicy details. The marriage between the two sites (indeed, Meg Whitman referred to eBay's efforts to own part of craigslist as "a courtship") had issues from the start, as with many relationships where there is an unequal balance of power.
