GREENSBORO — A revenge plot on Craigslist was a work of fantasy — but it was realistic enough to prompt a police investigation.
A message posted Wednesday night on Greensboro's Craigslist — written like a news story about a shooting Thursday — described a man going to an unnamed trucking terminal near Piedmont Triad International Airport and killing 12 of his co-workers, then himself. Craigslist is a self-moderated Web page offering free classified ads and forums.
A local woman reading the "rants and raves" forum saw the message go up about 10 p.m. and notified authorities. About 3:30 a.m. police found the man who wrote the post and determined that he would not act out what the message described, said Sgt. G.M. Richey of the Greensboro Police Department's criminal intelligence squad.
