20/11: Another shipper on uship gets scammed for $625.00, See? Uship offers NO protection

I am worried. I initially accepted a bid from a shipper and then had to cancel due to some conflicts. He talked to my husband and said he'd give us a refund as I paid him via Paypal to secure a spot on the truck heading to our state. But, then we had a conflict, so we agreed to cancel. It's been nearly a week, and no word from the shipper nor has their been a refund. Paypal was contacted and they are working on it from their end. Any other suggestions? I'm a newbie and perhaps naive about paying as soon as I did. I can't afford to throw away $625.00. Please help!
